SOUS Card Sketch: Feb 20-Mar 5

It's reveal day at SOUS and we have a fun CAS card sketch for you to play along with. Our sketch was designed by our own Leah Schaeffer. After you've checked out my take on the sketch make sure you stop by the SOUS blog and see what the rest of the design team did.

Here is the sketch...

And here is my take. As you can see I rotated the sketch.

The stamp and sentiment is from Unity Stamps. The set is designed by Phyllis Harris. I just love her stamps! I have a few sets. My favorites are of the girls with their hair blowing in the wind. The papers are from My Minds Eye.

I hope you will join us and play along with our sketch for a chance at being featured on the SOUS blog as one of our Top 3!!! Just link up your card here.

Have a great day

SOUS Card Sketch: Feb 6-19th

Wow what a busy week for me! If you are looking for the Stuck on U Sketches Blog Hop click HERE and if you are looking for Sara's Birthday Blog Hop click HERE.

Now for today, we have the first February card sketch from SOUS. Check out this cute little sketch from Leah Schaeffer.

Since the card sketch was so long and skinny I went out of my box and made a card to fit in a Legal sized envelope (4 1/8 x 9 1/2).

I further went out out of my comfort zone with the style of this card. It is a lot more romantic and vintage looking than I typically do but I had this beautiful collection from Basic Grey called Serenade and it worked perfectly!

I used Distress ink around the edges of the card to add to the soft vintage feel. I created the splotches of ink by rubbing some of the distress ink on my craft mat. I then got a paint brush dripping with water and got the ink wet. I filled the brush with the watered down ink and flicked it onto the paper to get the spots.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you will join us and play along with our challenge for your chance at being featured on the SOUS blog as one of our Top 3! Link up your card here.

Have a great day!
I love to read your kind comments

Happy Birthday Sara!!!

If you are looking for the Stuck on U Sketches 100th Sketch Blog Hop click HERE

I was so excited to be asked by my friend and fellow Scrapy Land DT member Sara Zenger to be a part of her Birthday Blog Hop!

You should have come here from Shannon's blog but if you just stumbled across this post and would like to follow the entire hop just head over to Sara's blog and start there.

We have a sketch that was created just for this occasion by Sara's friend Diana Fisher. And all of us gals created a layout to share with you based on this sketch.

The best part of this hop is that Sara has 2 gifts up for grabs!

#1. A $30 Gift Certificate to Paper Issues – to one lucky winner who links up their layout based on Diana’s Birthday Sketch to the linky on Sara's blog by midnight on February 9th. (You must be a follower of Sara's blog to be eligible)

#2. Creative Scrappers will be giving away 2 copies of the Creating with Sketches e-book to two birthday hoppers that leave a comment on each post throughout the hop.

Many of the ladies participating in this hop have also got some blog candy to give away so make sure you visit all of the blogs and leave them some love.

Anywho, here is the layout I made with this sketch...

I just LOVE the look of large photos on layouts so I was so excited to see that Diana incorporated that element! This photo of my son is one of my all time favorites! He has the sweetest little swirl of hair when his hair is short. His dad has the same swirl, but on the other side of his head. I think it makes him look like Superman (hence the theme of this layout)

The title and the white arrows were cut out using my new Silhouette Cameo that I got for Christmas. This is the first layout I've made using it.

I had some fun along the base of the photo and clustered a bunch of different embellies, I used buttons, rhinestones, brads, chipboard stars, die-cuts, badges, and the arrows of course!

I've had that little 'Superboy' Sticker for YEARS and I've held on to it waiting for just the right project and I finally found it! I guess sometimes my hording of product comes in handy! LOL

And to finish off, here is a close up of the title. I switched it to the opposite side from what the sketch shows, but it worked best with my photo to do it this way.

To show my appreciation for you hopping by today I have a little blog candy to give away! My prize is a set of stamps by Unity Stamp Co. and a selection of 6x6 papers. For your chance to win you must become a follower of my blog (if you aren't already) and leave me a comment.

I am the last stop on this hop, I hope you enjoyed it and were able to find some inspiration! I hope you were able to leave a comment on each of the blogs for your chance to win some fabulous prizes! Remember you have until midnight on February 9th to complete the hop.

Thanks for hopping by
Have a great day
