Christmas Cuties

Hi Friends!

I'm here with you today to show you how I put together my Christmas Cuties layout!

I love making grid style layouts! You are able to add more than one photo as well as a bunch of clusters fun embellishments.

I decided on 3 inch squares so that there would be a nice balance of photos, elements and the background behind. I trimmed the photos slightly so that I could add a white mat and make them stand out.

So lets start with the top of the layout. I used a diecut bow to make this square into a gift! Afterwards I popped up the small green gift diecut and layered it on top to make it look like a pile of gifts.

When I placed the Christmas tree in the top left square it looked a little to lonely to me, so I added the '25'. The tree has very thin pop dots under it and the '25' has thicker ones so that they are at different heights and create depth.

The title of my layout was pretty easy to come up with...how cute are those kiddos!?!? I wanted a word that would fit nicely in the square and the word 'cuties' worked perfectly with the Thickers. A few holly stickers finished it off.

In the bottom left corner I used pop dots once again behind the wreath sticker (I love for things to pop off the page). I used a piece of ribbon from the kit to make a tiny bow and added it to the bottom of the wreath.

The patterned paper in the middle square was just so cute I didn't want to cover any of it up so I left it as it is.

Finally I took the three ornament die cuts and lined them up along the top of the bottom right square. They looked a bit strange just hanging in space there so I added the 'JOY' stickers and it helped.

Well that's it for me today. I hope you enjoyed seeing how I put my layout together. There are SO MANY awesome stickers and die cuts in this kit I'm sure you could make a layout in the same style as me and use totally different embellies! I'd love to see it! Please make sure you share on our FB page.

MCS December Creative Kit

Hello Friends!

I was excited to get to play with the Creative Kit this month from My Creative Scrapbook! Check it out! It features the Be Merry collection from American Crafts and comes with all kinds of awesome stickers and die cuts!

I'd like to share a few of the projects I created with my kit...

All the red and green in this kit is so awesome! It makes the pages come together so easily they practically scrap themselves!

I love the milk and cookie embellishments. They worked perfectly for my pic of my little guy with his goodies for Santa.

All the bits and pieces in this kit were great for this layout. They gave me a lot of variety to add to each box in my grid. I added some pop dots under the embellies to give the layout some depth.

The gingerbread items in the kit are so cute!

I think my most favorite thing in the whole it was this little elf sticker! That Elf on the Shelf is so popular these days, I know a LOT of you will have a use for him!

oh, and that strip of Santa's in the top left corner of my layout...that's WASHI TAPE!.....love it!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my projects.

I have a few more to share with you so please check back soon!
And don't forget to check out what the rest of the DT did with their kits in our DT Gallery!

Merry Christmas!

Summer Scrappin with My Creative Scrapbook

Hi Friends!

I'm back today to share my remaining layouts made with my August Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook.

This month's fun kit features the bright and cheerful Lemonade Stand Collection from Bo Bunny as well as some other embellishments from American Crafts.

I loved all the fun strawberries in the kit and I knew right away that they would be perfect to use on this layout of my daughter eating her freshly picked wild strawberries.

There are so many fun tags and title cards in this kit, it makes it easy to add titles and journaling to your projects.

More fun berries...and I just LOVED the little rainbow polkadot alphabet!

My family doesn't really get the opportunity to do much traveling in the summer so we have to make the most of what we have close to where we live. My hunny has a second job at a hotel in town that has an outdoor swimming pool. We get to use it any time we want for free and it is a great way to beat the heat during this super hot summer we are having! A staycation is a great thing!

There was even a STAYCATION sticker!!! how perfect was that?!? And I just loved the one that says 'the best things in life are free'...couldn't be better! And those shades...love 'em!

It was my baby girls first time in a swimming pool. The water was a bit cool and I thought she would cry but she loved it...she's not a fan of this heat either!

I fussy cut the sun and clouds out of one of the papers in the kit.

The big orange tag is just tucked under all the other embellishments. It has some hidden journaling on it.

Finally here's a little peek of my last layout. I'm going to have a detailed step by step on how I put this layout together a little later on in the month, so make sure you watch for that.

For all the details about subscriptions for this kit as well as the 3 other monthly kits from My Creative Scrapbook check out the webpage here.

Have a great day!

New at the Nook!

Happy Monday!!

Today is my first post as part of the Scrapping Nook Design Team and I get to share with you our new monthly Sketch Challenge! A new sketch with be posted on the first Monday of each month so check back regularly.  If you just happened across this post today, pleas head over to the Scrapping Nook blog to see how the rest of the team interpreted the sketch.

Before I share the sketch with you, here is my take on it. I love this photo of my daughter kissing my pregnant belly. She was 8 years old at the time, and you can see by the look on her face she was uncomfortable doing it! ;)

Here is the fun sketch that we get to play along with this month.

I've got some close ups to better show off the details...

I made a Polaroid frame on my Silhouette. I took a basic frame and welded the word 'family' to it. The 'new arrival' arrow was also cut from the silhouette.

I cut a strip of hearts out of vellum on the silhouette as well. I used the negative space as a layer under my photo, and I used the hearts as embellishments throughout the layout.

I rubbed some pink ink on my craft mat and spritzed it with water. I then loaded a paint brush up with the inky water and flicked it on my page...no mist required!

So that is it for me today. I hope you will join us and play along with our challenge for your chance to win 'Nook Prize!!'

You can submit your layout in one of three ways...

1. Upload your layout to our facebook page.
2. In the comment section of this post- add a link to your blog or gallery where we can see your take on the sketch.
3. Upload your take of the sketch to our Gallery on the Nook Message Board.

You have until 11:59 pm on March 31st to upload your entry.

SOUS 100th SKETCH!!!

WELCOME TO STUCK ON U SKETCHES
100th SKETCH BLOG HOP
PRIZES AND BLOG CANDY TO BE WON!!!

We are extremely excited to have you all visiting on a historic day for Stuck on U Sketches!
Today's post marks our 100th sketch!

And to celebrate in a big way we have invited our entire Design Team to join in our sketch challenge!

Here is our sketch designed by Leah Schaeffer

You should have come here from Bonnie's blog. If you got lost along the way or missed any of the stops, just head back to the SOUS blog and check the full hop listings.

Now let me show you my take on the sketch...
I chose to adapt the sketch for a card. I was inspired by the diagonal stripes in the background. I used an embossing folder to get the stripe effect and add some texture.
I created a tiny envelope as an embellishment and of course used the hearts as inspiration for embellishments! With the 'love' tag and polaroid and the I{heart}U brad, we get a sweet little love card for an Anniversary, Valentine, or just because.

Of course we just couldn't let a big day like today go without a bit of a treat for you all so we have a few wonderful sponsors for our hop!

-Our very own Lisa Norris of Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons
-Regina Easter of The Cutting Cafe
-Stephanie of Whimsical Designs: has donated 2 stamp sets!!!

Our only expectation is to be a follower of Stuck on U Sketches and leave a little love along the way for each team member (this will take some time so our hop is a week long!) We have 3 sponsors and will pick 3 winners and we'll have those to post for you on Friday, February 8th.

I have done a little shopping in my own stash and have put together this fun little prize!!!

One lucky commenter on this post will win this awesome set of 12 6x6 patterned papers! I will post the winner on my blog on February 8th so make sure you check back!!! I'd also really love it if you were a follower of my blog :)

I hope you will join us and use the sketch to inspire your own project. You can link up your project at the SOUS blog here.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Now it's time for you to hop on over and see what Annette has created with this sketch.

My first sketch with My Creative Sketches

I am excited to share my first layout for my design team at My Creative Sketches.  This month's fun layout was designed by the lovely Kim Keane. Here is what we're working with...

So here is what I came up with. I used the fabulous Dear Lizzy Neapolitan line from American Crafts to create this layout of my daughter and her cousins all dressed up in their pretty party dresses for their aunty's wedding.
here are a few close-ups of the details...

the stitched flowers are from Basic Grey.

I hope you will play along and link up your layout based on this sketch! Check out the amazing prize that could be YOURS at My Creative Sketches.

National Scrapbooking Day

This past weekend was National Scrapbooking Day. I would have liked to spend my whole weekend scrapbooking and taking part in all of the fun challenges going on, but I had other things planned. Luckily for me, many companies have due dates on their challenges that extend up to a week past NSD so I had some time to participate in a few.

My first challenge was with A Cherry on Top. Once of the challenges they posted was to find a project on their Pinterest page that inspired you and to make something from it.

Here is the image I was inspired by. I loved the little butterflies coming out of the jar so I decided to work with that idea...
This is what I came up with. I used stars instead of hearts. I found that all my ink pads were too dark so to get a softer color I stamped off onto scratch paper once and then stamped my stars.
I popped up some of the stars in the jar to give them some dimension.
I popped up all the stars that are jumping out of the jar and added some glitter to give them a little sparkle.
Supplies used: Patterned Papers: American Crafts Dear Lizzy Neopolitan; Stamps: American Crafts; Punches: Stampin Up; Markers: Stampin Up; Glitter: Stickles; Flower: Prima; Twine: Devine Twine; Misc: Buttons, embroidery floss.

My next project is for Unity Stamp's Sketch Challenge. I applied to be on their design team that was just announced on NSD, but I didn't make it :(  My friend Shilo was chosen though so that is REALLY exciting! I'm going to have lots of stamps to borrow from her I guess! LOL, you should check out her blog HERE.

Anyways, the sketch challenge comes with some amazing prizes of it's own. The winner gets to be the Guest Designer in July and $100 worth of Unity Stamps! And you know I LOVES me some Unity stamps!

Here is the sketch...
And here is what I came up with. I have always liked the play on words to use {son}shine instead of sunshine and now that I have a little boy, I have the opportunity.
Supplies used: Stamps: Unity; Patterned Papers: My Minds Eye; Crate Paper, Prima; Cardstock: Bazzill; Letter Stickers: American Crafts; Twine: Devine Twine; Paper Punches: Tab (Jenni Bowlin) Scallop border (EK Success); Border Sticker: Doodlebug; Misc: buttons, embroidery floss, dimensional adhesive.
Here's a closeup of my embellies...I just love these little clouds.

Here's a quick look at the Unity Stamp sets I used...
Blossom Soup

Fingers crossed that I get picked this time!

My third NSD project was a Becky Fleck Sketch Challenge over at A Cherry on Top. The sketch this time looks like this...

And here is my take on the sketch.
Supplies used: Patterned Papers: My Minds Eye; Journaling card: My Minds Eye; Border Sticker: Simple Stories; Letter Stickers: Cosmo Cricket, American Crafts, Carolee's Creations; Banner Flags: My Minds Eye Die Cuts; Brads: My Minds Eye; Buckle Up Tag: Karen Foster; Twine: Devine Twine, The Twinery; Mics: buttons, Milk Tab.

And here are a few close ups of the details...
