Bella Blvd Creative Team hopeful!

As I may have mentioned a time or two before, Bella Blvd is one of my FAVORITE scrapbooking brands! (Hi Stephanie and Laura!!!!)

Last year I applied to be on their Creative Team but unfortunately I wasn't chosen. This year I am throwing my hat in the ring again and keeping my fingers crossed.

I don't want to share my projects that I've included in my application just yet so I thought I would remind you what I submitted last year.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you'll cross your fingers (and toes) along with me!

MCS December Creative Kit

Hello Friends!

I was excited to get to play with the Creative Kit this month from My Creative Scrapbook! Check it out! It features the Be Merry collection from American Crafts and comes with all kinds of awesome stickers and die cuts!

I'd like to share a few of the projects I created with my kit...

All the red and green in this kit is so awesome! It makes the pages come together so easily they practically scrap themselves!

I love the milk and cookie embellishments. They worked perfectly for my pic of my little guy with his goodies for Santa.

All the bits and pieces in this kit were great for this layout. They gave me a lot of variety to add to each box in my grid. I added some pop dots under the embellies to give the layout some depth.

The gingerbread items in the kit are so cute!

I think my most favorite thing in the whole it was this little elf sticker! That Elf on the Shelf is so popular these days, I know a LOT of you will have a use for him!

oh, and that strip of Santa's in the top left corner of my layout...that's WASHI TAPE!.....love it!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my projects.

I have a few more to share with you so please check back soon!
And don't forget to check out what the rest of the DT did with their kits in our DT Gallery!

Merry Christmas!

'Love This' layout tutorial

Hello friends!

Today I would like to share with you how I put together my Love This layout. This layout was made with the October Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook and features the super adorable Forest Friends collection from Doodlebug.

I'm not really into the Pocket Style of scrapbooking for the most part, but sometimes the simple style of it appeals to me. Rather than use a page protector with pockets, I just adapted the style to fit on a typical 12x12 page so it would fit in my regular sleeves.

The Jillibean cards in the kit work perfectly for this style of scrapbooking. They are the perfect size.

I layered some patterned papers in the negative spaces on the card to create my title, and then layered the heart sticker over the arrow. Now of course I can't have things too linear or flat so I offset the sticker of the flower on the card and popped it up with a pop dot. I added the little tag of ribbon to add some texture.

I used one of the small flowers from the kit to create an embellishment cluster in the center of the layout. The flowers are actually two layers glued together, but I carefully took the layers apart and used just one flower on this layout. I used the other on a different layout.  I tucked the owl sticker under a button and used a pop dot under the sticker to add a bit more depth and dimension there.

The is my favorite part of my layout. I wrapped a piece of string around the purple card I cut and strung a bunch of the little tag stickers onto the string. I put a pop dot under each (I love pop dots! I can never leave stickers flat). then I tied a little piece of the orange ribbon from the kit in between each of the tags.

..it's super adorable.

Finally I loved the circle/bubble card in the kit so I added it in the last section. I liked how the white cards are on opposite corners of the page. It helps to create balance.

And again, I just can't have things too linear so I offset the cute little owl journaling sticker and added a button for dimension.

So that's it from me today....
Hope that list gave you some ideas for your next project!
Thanks for stopping in today!

October Creative Kit projects

Hello friends!

Earlier in the week we debuted this months kits from My Creative Scrapbook with a fun blog hop! If you missed it you can check out all the amazing projects by starting here.

Today, I'd love to share the rest of the layouts I created with the October Creative kit from My Creative Scrapbook kit club.

This month's Creative kit featured the Friendly Forest collection from Doodlebug. It is so stinkin adorable! I'm just loving the little critters found throughout the kit.

The extra large leaves are a fun part of the kit. On this layout I lined them up vertically to make them look more like trees.

On my next layout I used items from the kit but I tried to get away from fall-ish look.

This little birdy tag is one of my favorite elements from the kit :)

For my final layout. I went with a sort of altered pocket page layout style.

I'll have a step by step for how I put this layout together later on in the month so make sure you check on back.

To see what the rest of the DT gals created with their kits make sure you check out the GALLERY! Lots of amazing inspiration to be seen there.

And of course if you are interested in subscription info for My Creative Scrapbook kits you can find it all here.

Have a great day

Quilted Heart tutorial

Hello Friends!

Today I would like to share with you how I created the quilted heart on my 'Work of Heart' layout.

This month I am using Creative Kit which features the Creative Agenda collection from Echo Park.

I started by using my silhouette to cut out a large heart from my base patterned paper. If you don't have an electronic die cutting machine you could certainly draw a heart freehand and cut it out by hand. I then used embroidery floss and stitched around the entire outside of the heart.

Next I placed the paper with the cut out heart on top of a sheet of white cardstock and traced the heart shape with my pencil

...

I took a bunch of scraps from layouts I had already completed and cut a whole bunch of 1.5inch squares. You could use a square punch if you have one but I just used my paper trimmer. I then cut each one in half diagonally so that I got two triangles.

I then began randomly sticking the triangles down to the white cardstock in the pattern you see below. I really didn't have a plan for which triangles I stuck down, except for that I didn't want any of the same patterns to be touching each other.

I was not covering the whole white paper with triangles...only where I had traced the heart. I also left a bunch missing from the bottom right corner as you can see, because I knew my photo was going to go there and cover that space up....no need to waste paper, am I right?!?!

When the heart was all filled in I simply attached the patterned paper with the cut out heart on top and added my photo.

I finished off the layout with a title block, journaling and a few stickers and embellishments.

And here again is the finished product! A great way to use up small scraps, and you could use all kinds of different shapes for the cut out...maybe a star!....oooh, I've gotta try that.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope you were able to find some inspiration.

MCS Sept Creative Kit Projects part 2

Hello friends!

I'm back with part 2 of my layouts created with this months Creative Kit from My Creative Scrapbook kit club.

In case you missed my last post you can find it here, and as a reminder this kit features the Creative Agenda collection from Echo Park.

***

The first layout I'm sharing today is actually one about me! I rarely scrapbook myself but I have been slowly working away on a school album of my school years. The Creative Agenda goodies in the kit worked perfectly for me to add another layout to the album.

I used the 'School' die cut word from the kit as a mask instead of just attaching the die cut to my project. I used some temporary adhesive to attach it to my page and then gave a few good sprays with some white ink.

I attached some the stickers down the side of my Gr 5. Portrait...and check out that background behind me...can you say 80s?!?!?!

I did a little bit more spritzing and splattering of the white ink in the top right corner to add some symmetry.  I love the papers with the days of the week and months of the year on them...perfect for school layouts...and the + signs and check marks...love 'em!

See that white cardstock that looks like it is torn from a book? or maybe I used an edge punch to get that look? NOPE! I just made it myself. I punched a line of circles down the edge of the paper and then made a little snip in the paper from the edge of the paper right into each circle...easy peasy!

***

I'll tease you a bit with my next layout. I'll share a pic of it with you but I won't be sharing any details right now. But please check back later in the month if you are interested in how I put this layout together. I'll have a step by step tutorial to share :)

***

My last layout has more of a boyish feel to it. I love that the Creative Agenda collection worked so well for boyish and feminine layouts.

I used the trick I mentioned above for making your paper look like it was torn from a coil book again on this layout.

I cut a strip of the camera paper to make a border below my photos. I loved how the little blue camera sticker was the exact same size as the camera on the paper so I just stuck it over top. A little cluster of stickers, buttons, and papers made a nice focal point.

These little word stickers in the kit were fun for making your own sentiments

Just another little cluster of stickers to create a visual triangle of embellishments on the layout.

Well that is all for this kit, I look forward impatiently until the next one arrives!

I hope you were able to find some inspiration.

If you are interested in finding out about the MCS kit club you can find all the details and see past kits here! And don't forget to check out the DT Gallery while you are there for a TON of great inspiration for each kit.

Have a great day
