Elle's Studio Thursday Sketch Challenge!

Merry Christmas Friends! I got to create the inspiration layout for the SKETCH THURSDAY Challenge at Elle's Studio this week! I used almost all of the tags as well as the stamp set from the Be Merry Collection by Elle's Studio.

My layout is based on this sketch which was inspired by the super cool Christmas frame that Kay made. You can check it out here.
Here are a few close ups so you can checkout all the fun tags going on!

Head on over to Elle's sketch blog post and leave a comment or link up your take on the sketch by Dec 26th  for your chance to win a $10 GC at Elle's Studio

I think this will probably be my last post of the year so I hope you  have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

All the best in 2013!

SOUS Card Sketch: Dec 19-Jan 1

Wow! it is our final SOUS card sketch challenge of 2012! I can't believe when I post my next card that it will be a new year.  When I was a kid the years seemed to go so slowly. But now that I am grown with children of my own the years just seem to fly by.

Anyways, enough babbling...get to the card right?

ok, ok, here it is...

and this is the fun sketch it is based on by Sandi Clarkson. I was inspired by the layout of the sketch as well as the wintery theme. I used this cute stamp set from Unity (you know they're my fave).

I got to do some practicing with my Copics. I'm no pro, but I'm pretty happy with how this cute little guy turned out. I only went out of the lines a few times ;)

I hope you will play along with us and upload your card based on Sandi's sketch here by January 1st. I know this is a really busy time of year so if you can't play along this time make sure you check back with us in the new year. Our first challenge of 2013 will be up on January 2nd.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!
All the best to you in 2013!

the neon '80s!

The winter issue of Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine has a feature with an '80s theme. Totally RAD! I submitted this layout to be published in the magazine. It wasn't chosen but I thought I would share it with you anyways.

I scrapbooked two photos of me from the '80s. One with tacky plastic jewelry and the other with pink frosted lip gloss and blue eyeshadow.

And of course I had to use the crazy neon colors on my layout that the '80s were known for!

All around the outside of the layout I listed things I remember from my childhood: toys, movies, tv, trends, music and fashion.

I haven't scrapbooked many of my photos from my childhood so it is nice to get the opportunity to scrapbook some. I like how this one turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by,
your kind comments make my day.

Elle's Studio December Gallery

I'm sad to say that this is my last gallery as part of the Elle's Studio DT. I absolutely loved being a part of this team and I am so thankful I got the opportunity to be a part of it. I just wish it could go on longer.

This months gallery features the Be Merry Tags! and I've got a lot of photos to share with you so let's get started...

My first layout is about my family's Pickle ornament tradition. I have wanted to scrapbook this layout for years and I am so glad I finally got the opportunity. Elle's tags worked perfectly! I want to take the time to scrapbook more of our holiday traditions, both new and old!

My second layout is of my son's first Christmas experience. Like most little kids, he was far more interested in the paper and boxes than in what was inside them...he was so cute with the little bow on his head as he crumpled up all the paper!

Finally I made a fun layout of this great photo I took of my kids wrapped up in the Christmas lights. I tried a few new things on this layout like machine stitching the vellum circles onto the page, heat embossing on the photo, and using sequins!

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my layouts. Make sure you stop by Elle's Studio and pick yourself up some of these fun Christmas tags!

Happy Ho Ho Ho to you!

SOUS: Card Sketch Challenge Dec 5-18

We've got a fun new Stuck on U Sketches card sketch challenge starting today! I liked this sketch so much I made the same card twice! LOL, well that's not exactly what happened. When I went to photograph my original card, I discovered that my almost 2 year old had unleashed his inner artist all over my WHITE card!!! Luckily my wonderful DT leaders were very understanding and patient with me and I managed to get a second card made before reveal day. So anywho, here's the sketch we are playing with...

And her is my all WHITE interpretation of the sketch (see how hard it would have been to cover up my little man's scribbles on an all white card?)

I had fun making the card monochromatic. I found a bunch of fun ways to create texture on the card since there was no color definition. I stitched strips of velum to the base of the card. Used a diagonal stripe embossing folder on the tag, and added some snowflake dies on top.

I finished off the card with lace, shiny string and some beautiful pearls to add some more texture and dimension.

Well, that's it for me today, I hope you will take our challenge and play along for a chance to be featured on the SOUS blog! Link up your cards here by December 18th.

Have a great day

Sketchabilities: Sketch 80

It's new sketch challenge time!!! This is my last post as part of the Sketchabilities team, but I think it's my favorite sketch so far!

here's what I came up with...

And here are a few close-ups of the details...

I am not normally into these soft pastel colors, but they went so well with the colors in the photo I just had to got with it.

You have until December 13th to link up your layout here for the chance to win an amazing prize and to featured on the Sketchabilities blog.

Have a great weekend!

SOUS Sketch Challenge: Nov 21-Dec 4

Oooh, I've got a fun new card sketch challenge to share with you today. First off here is my card.

and here is the fun sketch by Leah that I based it on. Now Leah's sketch has a fall theme to it but your card doesn't have to if you don't want. Check out all the fantabulous inspiration that the DT has to share with you using this sketch.

Here are a few close ups to share with you...

I really like how this little cluster of embellishment in the top left corner turned out. Thanks to my dearest Katie who lent me that 'thanks' stamp in a pinch...I think it worked perfectly!

Well that's it for me for today. I look forward to seeing what you create with Leah's sketch. Simply upload your card here by December 4th for your chance to be featured on the SOUS blog.

Have a great day

My Creative Sketches: November Sketch

It's sketch reveal day at My Creative Sketches!!! Here is the fun new sketch for this months challenge...

I went totally outside my comfort zone for this sketch and decided to do something different.

I'm loving washi tapes and I've seen so many cool layouts with them lately. Instead of using using papers for this layout I just used a mish mash of a bunch of different tapes!

I still don't know if I'm 100% happy with my final product but I AM happy with the fact that I tried something new.

I must appologize for the quality of the photos, it was a really crummy day when I took them and even with editing this is the best I could get. The base cardstock is actually white although I'm not so sure it reads that way in the photos.

I would love it if you played along with our sketch this month. I challenge you to follow my lead and step out of your comfort zone. Try a technique you've been admiring! Link your layout here by December 14th for your chance to win an amazing prize and to be featured on the blog!

Have a great weekend!

Sketchabilities: Sketch 79

Yay! It's the new sketch challenge release day at Sketchabilities! And here is the goody we get to play with.

I just loooove this sketch. I am so happy with how my layout turned out! I'm not always happy with my final product, but this is just one of those times when it all came together just how I hoped it would :)

These photos of my daughter are some of my all time faves. I've scrapped them before, but I just love them so much I had to give it another go.

I used a bunch of different edge punches on strips of patterned paper and then crumpled them up so they would have dimension. Then I just layered them up and added some word stickers throughout.

All the papers and stickers are from Echo Park For the Record 2, and I added a few buttons from October Afternoon cause their buttons are my absolute FAVE!!!

I don't know how easy it is to tell in a photo but the pink strip around the yellow pp is pink decorative tape from My Minds Eye. I layered it around the patterned paper to make a frame.

Well, that is it for me today. I hope you will play along with our sketch challenge for your chance to win an awesome prize and to be featured on the Sketchabilities blog! Just link your layout up here by November 28th.

Have a great day
~Becky
