My Creative Sketches: Sept Sketch Challenge

It's sketch challenge time again over at My Creative Sketches!

I made a fun layout to share with you today using some older pictures of my little guy.

Right now we are fully in the frustrating saga of potty training so it was nice to look back on some pics of when things were so much simpler and easier.

Here is the sketch I based my layout on. You can play along and create your own sketch based on this layout for your chance to win an amazing prize!!! But more on that at the end of this post...

You can see I altered the sketch a bit to suit my layout. I added more photos and didn't use the large circles in the sketch, but I did create two focal points in the bottom left and top right of the page just like the sketch shows. That is why I love to use sketches, your end product doesn't have to look like the sketch, the sketch is simply to inspire you and give you a direction :)

Here's a few close ups...

I used the Boy Crazy collection from My Minds Eye. It worked perfectly for this layout.

So here's what you're playing for!!!

Just create a layout based on our September sketch, link it up HERE and you are entered for a chance to be featured on the MCS blog or to win this fabulous prize!!!!

I can't wait to see what you come up with :)
Have a great day

MCS: August Sketch Challenge

The August Sketch challenge begins today over at My Creative Sketches.

Here is the layout I made based on Liz's fun sketch below. I liked all the white space on the sketch so I kept with that on my layout.

I used some papers from Echo Park and Bella Blvd, wood veneers from Studio Calico, enamel dots from My Minds Eye, and Stickers from Echo Park

This is the sketch we are playing along with this month...

Here are a few close ups of the details on my layout....

The story that goes along with this layout is a bit long and I didn't want to have all the writing take over the page so I wrote all my journaling out on a tag and tucked it behind the photo with a little pull tab.

I hope you will consider playing along with our challenge this month. If you do you'll have the chance to win this fabulous prize that Pam has put together!

And don't forget MCS has an awesome monthly KIT CLUB as well, and you can see past kits as well as how to join up right here.

Have a great day :)

My Creative Sketches: June Sketch Challenge

Happy Sunday Friends!

Today is Father's Day so I took the opportunity to use this months sketch from My Creative Sketches to do a layout for my hunny!  My scrapbook pages tend to mostly be for and about the kiddos so my hunny and I don't get layouts very often.

I stuck fairly closely to the sketch this time. The most noticeable alteration I made was to use a bunch of smaller circles instead of the one large one on the sketch.

I love this Oxford Lane collection from My Minds Eye and this is my first layout with it.  I'm sure this is one of those collections I'm going to totally use up!

If you play along with our challenge you will have the opportunity with this AMAZING prize that Pam put together!!! I'm just loving those little bows!

To see how the rest of the team interpreted this sketch and to upload your link to play along just visit the MCS post here.

I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Happy Father's Day to my hunny!!!

Growing in Unity Day 1

Happy Monday Friends!

To say that I am excited to be a Growing in Unity gal is week would be an absolute understatement!!! For those of you who are regulars to my blog you know I am a HUGE Unity fan so getting to play with my large collection of Unity Stamps this week is going to be awesome :)

I'm starting off the week with a two-for. I couldn't decide if I wanted to make a Baby Boy card or a Baby Girl card with this adorable Ark stamp so I ended up making both.

I have had this Itty Bitty set called Two by Two for quite a while but I hadn't got around to using it yet so it felt good to get it inked up.

The sentiment that comes with the Ark image didn't really suit my card so I used a different one from the July 2010 Kit of the Month 'Happily Ever After'

PRIZE TIME!! 2 CHANCES TO WIN!!!
I'm giving away a little blog candy! I have a Leopard Print embossing folder from Darice and the Memories 6x6 paper pad from Teresa Collins to give away to 1 lucky friend who comments on my blog this week!

and Unity is generously giving away 2 Itty Bitties of your choice to a commenter on my blog this week. So make sure you stop by daily and leave a comment for more chances to win!!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Reading your kind comments makes my day :)
until tomorrow,
~Becky

My Creative Sketches: March Sketch Challenge

Happy Weekend everyone! Are you as happy that it has arrived as I am? It's been a bit of a rough week so I'm glad for the break.

I hope you are relaxing with a yummy beverage in your hand and taking a peek at what the My Creative Sketches team has to inspire you with this month.

Here is the layout I created for this month's sketch. I scrapped one of my favorite photos of my son and me. I know this is probably bad to say, but I think that I like the picture because you can't really see much of me in it. I don't like to be in the photos...I'm usually the one taking them ;)

This is the sketch that my layout is based on, and the challenge for you this month.

I've got a few close ups of the details to share with you as well...

A mommy bird and a baby bird, just like me and my boy!

The 'hello there, handsome' title is a die cut from My Minds Eye.

As a matter of fact all the product on this layout is from My Minds Eye.

Well, that is all for me today. I hope you will play along with our sketch challenge for your chance to be featured on the My Creative Sketches blog and to win the fabulous prize that Pam has put together! To enter, just link up your layout HERE

By the by...I am also going to be submitting this layout for the My Minds Eye die cut challenge!

Thanks for stopping by,
reading your kind comments makes my day :)

Here is the sketch...

And here is my take. As you can see I rotated the sketch.

The stamp and sentiment is from Unity Stamps. The set is designed by Phyllis Harris. I just love her stamps! I have a few sets. My favorites are of the girls with their hair blowing in the wind. The papers are from My Minds Eye.

I hope you will join us and play along with our sketch for a chance at being featured on the SOUS blog as one of our Top 3!!! Just link up your card here.

Happy Birthday Sara!!!

If you are looking for the Stuck on U Sketches 100th Sketch Blog Hop click HERE

I was so excited to be asked by my friend and fellow Scrapy Land DT member Sara Zenger to be a part of her Birthday Blog Hop!

You should have come here from Shannon's blog but if you just stumbled across this post and would like to follow the entire hop just head over to Sara's blog and start there.

We have a sketch that was created just for this occasion by Sara's friend Diana Fisher. And all of us gals created a layout to share with you based on this sketch.

The best part of this hop is that Sara has 2 gifts up for grabs!

#1. A $30 Gift Certificate to Paper Issues – to one lucky winner who links up their layout based on Diana’s Birthday Sketch to the linky on Sara's blog by midnight on February 9th. (You must be a follower of Sara's blog to be eligible)

#2. Creative Scrappers will be giving away 2 copies of the Creating with Sketches e-book to two birthday hoppers that leave a comment on each post throughout the hop.

Many of the ladies participating in this hop have also got some blog candy to give away so make sure you visit all of the blogs and leave them some love.

Anywho, here is the layout I made with this sketch...

I just LOVE the look of large photos on layouts so I was so excited to see that Diana incorporated that element! This photo of my son is one of my all time favorites! He has the sweetest little swirl of hair when his hair is short. His dad has the same swirl, but on the other side of his head. I think it makes him look like Superman (hence the theme of this layout)

The title and the white arrows were cut out using my new Silhouette Cameo that I got for Christmas. This is the first layout I've made using it.

I had some fun along the base of the photo and clustered a bunch of different embellies, I used buttons, rhinestones, brads, chipboard stars, die-cuts, badges, and the arrows of course!

I've had that little 'Superboy' Sticker for YEARS and I've held on to it waiting for just the right project and I finally found it! I guess sometimes my hording of product comes in handy! LOL

And to finish off, here is a close up of the title. I switched it to the opposite side from what the sketch shows, but it worked best with my photo to do it this way.

To show my appreciation for you hopping by today I have a little blog candy to give away! My prize is a set of stamps by Unity Stamp Co. and a selection of 6x6 papers. For your chance to win you must become a follower of my blog (if you aren't already) and leave me a comment.

I am the last stop on this hop, I hope you enjoyed it and were able to find some inspiration! I hope you were able to leave a comment on each of the blogs for your chance to win some fabulous prizes! Remember you have until midnight on February 9th to complete the hop.

Thanks for hopping by
Have a great day

SOUS Sketch Challenge: Nov 21-Dec 4

Oooh, I've got a fun new card sketch challenge to share with you today. First off here is my card.

and here is the fun sketch by Leah that I based it on. Now Leah's sketch has a fall theme to it but your card doesn't have to if you don't want. Check out all the fantabulous inspiration that the DT has to share with you using this sketch.

Here are a few close ups to share with you...

I really like how this little cluster of embellishment in the top left corner turned out. Thanks to my dearest Katie who lent me that 'thanks' stamp in a pinch...I think it worked perfectly!

Well that's it for me for today. I look forward to seeing what you create with Leah's sketch. Simply upload your card here by December 4th for your chance to be featured on the SOUS blog.

Have a great day

Sketchabilities: Sketch 78

I get to share the new sketch challenge from Sketchabilities with you today. First off, here is the layout I created based on the sketch...

And here is the sketch we are playing with...

I've got a few close ups of my layout to share with you.

I made this layout of my daughter and her cousins jumping on the bed during a sleep over.
The photos had so many bright colours, I wasn't sure what papers to use at first, but then I came across this paper from my My Minds Eye stash and it was perfect! It's pretty bright, but it suits the photos and the theme of the layout perfectly!

You have until November 13th to link up your layout HERE for your chance at a great prize and to be featured on the Sketchabilities blog.

I look forward to seeing what you create with the inspiration sketch.
Have a great day
~Becky
