Sketchabilities #75

YAY! Today I get to share my first layout as a part
of the Sketchabilities design team!

This is the latest sketch we were given to work with.

and here is my take on the sketch...
I stuck pretty close to the sketch this time. I did make a few changes, such as I turned the four small photos in the sketch into two, and moved some of the embellishment clusters around.

I made this layout about the day I found my son quietly looking at a book when I had gone into the living room to check on him because he was too quiet! Usually when toddlers are too quiet it is a bad thing, but I was happy to find this cute image when I came into the room...I just had to grab my camera before he noticed me.

Link up your layout at Sketchabilities by September 29th for your chance to be featured on the blog!!

I look forward to seeing your take on this fun sketch!
Have a great day

I have created three DIFFERENT projects to share with you using this die over at the Scrapy Land blog. I'd love it if you stopped by and had a look. Here is a little sneaky peek to get you excited!

large photo love!

I am loving all the layouts I see these days that use HUGE photos! Sometimes scrapbooking becomes mostly about the embellishments and the photos get lost. I am guilty of using a lot of 'stuff' on my layouts but this time I wanted to keep it simple and let the photo shine!
This is my favorite photo of my little man from a photo session I won last fall. I love his crooked little hat and the sweet expression on his face.
The  photo is printed at 8x12. It is great because the photo goes all the way across the page without borders on the sides.
If you haven't tried printing your photos in such a large format I hope you have been inspired to give it a try!

Have a great day :)
I love to read your kind comments.

SOUS card sketch: September 5-18

Check out the newest sketch challenge over at Stuck on U Sketches

I must admit that this sketch stumped me for a bit. I had to play around with my papers until I finally got something I was happy with.

In the end I think I followed the sketch pretty closely. I made a few changes such as moving the three buttons over to the right side of the card, and I added some extra patterned paper below the sentiment. I am just loving these fun bright papers, the red polka dots are SO FUN!

Supplies used: Patterned Papers-Echo Park, Jillibean Soup; Frame Diecut-Jillibean Soup; Flowers-Prima; Buttons-October Afternoon; Chipboard Alphas-American Crafts; Corner Rounder Punch-EK Success; Buttons, Lace, Embroidery Floss-Misc.

I hope you will play along with our sketch! Link up your creation at SOUS for a chance to be in our Top 3!

Thanks for stopping by today,
I love to read your kind comments

Life is Sweet at Elle's Studio

It's a new month and that means that the new Design Team Gallery is up at Elle's Studio. Check out what my fellow DT members have created this month HERE. I have used the just released Sweet Life collection for my projects this month.

For my first layout I scrapped a few photos from the month of July that tell a story about what we did that month. I have wanted to do the polaroid look for awhile, and I think it worked out pretty well on this layout. The polaroid designs from the American Crafts Neapolitan line matched perfectly. The background paper is from Echo Park and is actually a pale teal color, although it looks a bit grey in my photos.

My second layout is really fun and bright. I used the Sugar Chic line from Heidi Swapp.  My daughter had a friend over to play and they put on a crazy dress-up fashion show. The colors and the patterns in this paper line go perfectly with these photos.

Finally, I made a card for my friends who looked after our dog while we were away on holidays. It came together really quick. I used one of the 4x6 journaling cards from Elle's Studio as the base for the card. I placed letter stickers over the large circle tag and then just cut out a few random circles with my Spellbinders and added some buttons as embellishments. Easy peazy.

Well, that's it for me today.
Thanks so much for stopping by
