Sketchabilities: Sketch 77

It's sketch debut day at Sketchabilities! Here is the latest sketch challenge...
And my take on the sketch...
The misted chevrons in the background don't show up very well in the photo, but they are more visible in real life.

I used a watermelon die from Lifestyle Crafts as the letter 'A'

I turned the large circle from the sketch into a watermelon, with slices of different colors of red paper. I built it up on chipboard to give it some dimension.
Supplies used: Patterned Papers-Sassafrass, Crate Paper, American Crafts, My Minds Eye; Cardstock-American Crafts; Washi tape-My Minds Eye; Flair-October Afternoon; Watermelon die-Lifestyle Crafts; Tab-American Crafts; Mist-Glimmer Mists; Stencil-Crafters Workshop; Letter Stickers-Basic Grey; Misc-corner, buttons, polka dot ribbon, embroidery floss.
I started and changed this layout 4 times! I had something TOTALLY different in mind when I started but after the 4th change I ended up with this.  For some reason this sketch was quite a challenge for me. I haven't actually decided if I like the final product yet, but it is done, and maybe it will grown on me over time.
I would love it if you joined us in our challenge. Link up your project HERE for your chance to win an awesome prize and to be featured on the Sketchabilities blog!  You have until October 28th to play along.
Have a great day

  1. I love the outcome! The way you used circle taking patterned papers to look like a watermelon!I had the same problem with a layout I did this weekend. This is one juicy layout!

  2. This is a really cute playful layout I love the watermelon accents and the bright colours!!! Nice work!

  3. Absolutely adorable, Becky! Love the bright fun colors, your flag banner, your sweet little son, and the way your misting turned out!!!

  4. This is great. I love all those reds, and it all invokes watermelon, without it actually being watermelon embellishments (except for those 2 little ones.)

  5. Lovely page!! like the red with white alot!

  6. Super, super cute!! Love what you did with the sketch - a great subject too!!
